jason rhoades…

bp_frontside300.jpg

another book that i seriously do not need… black pussy cocktail coffee table book… this large-scale art book examines jason rhoades’ last project- black pussy soiree cabaret macrame (say that ten times fast). the project was a series of private social events involving interactive installations… they took place in los angeles. alas. rhoades was one of my favorites. and once again i must add another book to the growing collection…

jeanette winterson…

traceyemins.jpg

a new book by my favorite author. exciting and fancy. of course after just moving into a new house- and schlepping 8 million books from one place to another- it makes the purchase of one more book a little daunting. but. alas. i think i am going to have to cave in and purchase the stone gods. if you haven’t checked out ms. winterson- go to her website– which is really swell. it is a great spot to navigate around. she also writes about the visual arts. she has an interesting piece about the artist – tracey emin (above image). alas. someone once said that you can never have too many books. thus. well. alas…

marcel dzama…

install8.jpg

every so often i check out the david zwirner website — just to see which shows i am missing in NY. here’s one that looks pretty fancy. for the most part, i knew marcel dzama as an illustrator- but this exhibit shows how theatrical his drawings and ideas really are. i think i might need to pick up his book and take a closer look. go to the gallery page to take a walk through the exhibit.

speaking of ice (see below)…

schneebett.jpg

not only is this a beautiful and succinct image… it is also an ice bed or snow bed (schneebett). i wonder what all this ice imagery is about… hmmm. anyway. this is a piece by enrique martinez celaya. it really is made of snow. there is a refrigeration system in the bed. nice.
